About Dr. Tan
Dr. Marcus Tan, MD, FAAD, FRCPC is a board-certified dermatologist who is highly skilled in medical and surgical dermatology.
With a keen eye for detail and a career spanning more than a decade, Dr. Tan is renowned for his expertise in diagnosing and treating various dermatologic conditions, including but not limited to, acne, eczema, psoriasis, alopecia, and skin cancers. He believes in providing high-quality, patient-centered care that is backed by robust scientific evidence. His empathetic nature and ability to establish strong rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds have earned him the trust of his patients.
Dr. Tan pursued his undergraduate in Biochemistry and Economics at the University of Toronto (UofT), where he attained a perfect GPA in every year of study and was awarded the UofT Scholars Award for being in the top 0.01% across all faculties and disciplines. Dr. Tan received early admission into Medical School at the University of Toronto and graduated with the prestigious Golden Stethoscope Award and the Gordon Cressy Leadership Award. He then completed a 5-year residency in Dermatology at the University of Ottawa, focusing primarily on medical and surgical dermatology. He was honored to serve as Chief Resident and received numerous awards and scholarships for his work ethic and scholarly work.
Dr. Tan is committed to advancing the field of dermatology, earning him a reputation as a trusted and compassionate physician among his colleagues and patients. Dr. Tan’s academic interests include cost-effectiveness analyses, evaluating the safety and efficacy of dermatological treatments, exploring unique pathologies in skin of color, and procedural dermatology. His research has been featured in New York Times, Medscape, and leading peer-reviewed journals including JAAD, DermSurg, BJD, JEADV, AJCD, and Pediatric Dermatology. He has also published chapters in renowned textbooks Procedures in Cosmetic Dermatology and Advances in Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr. Tan is double board-certified in Dermatology and is licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas and the Province of Ontario. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the Texas Medical Association.
Outside of work, Dr. Tan enjoys jogging with his wife Alexandra and goldendoodle Ollie along the Katy Trail.
