About Dr. Tan

Dr. Marcus Tan, MD, FAAD, FRCPC is a dual US & Canadian board-certified dermatologist who is passionate about providing high-quality, patient-centered care backed by evidence-based medicine. With every visit,. Dr. Tan pursued his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry and Economics at the University of Toronto where he finished with a 4.0 GPA and was awarded the University of Toronto Scholars Award for being the top 0.01% student across all faculties and disciplines. He gained early admission into Medical School at the University of Toronto, where he was honored to receive the Golden Stethoscope Award and the Gordon Cressy Leadership Award. He then completed his 5-year residency training in Dermatology at the University of Ottawa with a strong focus on medical and surgical dermatology. He was privileged to be appointed as the Chief Resident in his penultimate year and was awarded the D.C. Montgomery Resident Award, the Dr. Catherine M. Ruddy Scholarship and PGME Professionalism Award. Tan's academic interests include cost-effectiveness analyses, evaluating the safety and efficacy of dermatological treatments, exploring unique pathologies in skin of color, and procedural dermatology. His research has been featured in the New York Times and leading peer-reviewed scientific journals including Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD), British Journal of Dermatology (BJD), Dermatologic Surgery, Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV), American Journal of Clinical Dermatology (AJCD), British Journal of Medicine (BMJ) Global Health, and Pediatric Dermatology. He has also authored textbook chapters in the renowned Procedures in Cosmetic Dermatology: Lasers, Lights, and Energy Devices and Advances in Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Tan is regularly invited to present his research at national and international conferences, and peer-review manuscripts submitted by colleagues in the aforementioned journals. Dr. Tan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the Texas Medical Association.

Outside of work, Dr. Tan enjoys long-distance running with his wife along Katy Trail and is an enthusiast photographer with interest in landscape photography. He is excited and honored to serve patients in the metroplex.
