I had a rash in a private area. I was hoping to pull my boxers to the side to avoid further embarrassment. I was asked to lie down so the doctor could have a better view, requiring my shorts to be pulled all the way down.
I’m not modest, but the moment that I was most exposed, there was a knock at the door.
The PA’s assistant was busily typing in the computer, but said that she would deal with the knocking intruder. But before the nurse’s assistant could answer the door, the intruder’s head poked in and I felt extremely uncomfortable at that moment.
I think that the PA did her best to control the situation to prevent unnecessary embarrassment, but I think that there should be a “examination in progress” sign on the door. Or maybe, “privacy requested” on the sign.
It just seemed a little unprofessional, to have more people entering the room during the examination.
Other than that, the PA was very helpful, informative, and professional in her helping me with my “discreet” issue.
