Facial Wrinkles

Where Do Wrinkles Come From? The primary cause of most facial wrinkles is ultraviolet exposure (the sun and tanning beds), movement of the muscles of the face, smoking, and normal aging. As such, the treatment of facial wrinkles will vary based on the cause. Most facial wrinkles can be improved or lessened, many times dramatically so, but not completely erased. In many cases, the best results may require more than one type of treatment, to obtain the desired result. Also, in most cases, whatever treatment is chosen, it will need to be repeated periodically as the improvements are temporary. The time between treatments will vary between individuals, and what treatment was used. In addition, if exposure to ultraviolet radiation and smoking continue, the duration of benefit will be shortened. Keep in mind, that occasionally a true surgical facelift will be necessary for the desired result. If so, we will be happy to make recommendations to a trusted plastic surgeon.
Facial Rejuvenation Facial rejuvenation generally implies using multiple types of treatments to provide a more youthful, refreshed appearance. An in-office consultation is necessary. Using non-surgical methods, we can usually provide impressive improvements in appearance. However, based on our discussions with the patient, if the desired result can not be realistically obtained through non-surgical means, we will recommend an evaluation with a plastic surgeon. The treatments used most often in facial rejuvenation include neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin), lasers, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), chemical peels, microdermabrasion, skin/tissue tightening devices, and fillers (Juvederm, Sculptra, Perlane, Restylane). Excellent results cannot be guaranteed, but patients are generally very pleased. Laser Genesis by Cutera Collagen is the key to youthful, smooth skin for men and women.  Over time, collagen production slows down, and aging becomes more evident since the collagen availability has decreased.  Laser Genesis restores this vital element to glowing, vibrant skin.  This technologically advanced skin therapy reveals a more youthful appearance by diminishing signs of premature aging related to sun damage or natural wear including:
  • excessive redness or uneven skin tone
  • enlarged pores
  • uneven texture
  • undesirable fine lines and wrinkles
Scientifically proven to increase collagen production, Laser Genesis renews skin and winds back the clock for a more youthful appearance. After four or five sessions, people are pleased to see the dramatic difference that restores years to their complexion.  As pores shrink, and skin tone evens out, it appears that years are returned to facial skin.  By simply increasing collagen production and stimulating healthy growth, sun damage, scars, and redness diminish.  Minor imperfections disappear, and a subtle yet perceptible improvement in overall skin quality and health produces results that impress.  Multiple treatments gradually renew skin, leading to dramatic achievements.
